The Civil Rights Room is open every day during normal Nashville Public
Library hours (see below). Educators and tour groups interested in reserving
the Civil Rights Room should call Jennifer Quier at
the library at (615) 862-5804 ext. 6093.
The Nashville Public Library
The library system serves all of Metropolitan Nashville-Davidson County
from the downtown Main Library on Church Street and from 20 branches throughout
Metro. Among its features are:
- The general collection of more than 1.4 million circulating books
and
audio-video materials;
- The reference division, providing direct assistance at each facility,
as well as by e-mail, fax and telephone;
- The Metropolitan Government Archives, housed at 3801 Green
Hills Village Drive;
- More than 600 public-use computer terminals with Internet access;
- Special services for sight and hearing impaired patrons;
- Access to other libraries through InterLibrary Loan and Athena, an
Internet-based "virtual library" catalog;
- An array of special programs and services, such as the Nashville Room
(local history), the Nashville Banner archives, periodicals
and indexes, business research assistance, the children's division,
an auditorium and art gallery, meeting rooms, and a continuous array
of classes and special
events for all ages.
