Branch History
When it opened in 1952, Hadley Park was the first branch library to be added to the library system since 1919. Like Hadley Park Community Center, the Hadley Park Branch Library was built to serve the African-American community. For many years it was the only library in Nashville-Davidson County that African Americans were allowed to use.
Hadley Park Branch Library was built on land that is located in North Nashville, on 28th Avenue North, near the intersection of Jefferson and John Merritt Blvd. The park land is part of what was once John Hadley Plantation. In 1995, the branch was completely renovated, doubling its size. Today the branch stands as a legacy in the community, still providing library services to its citizens.
