Lindsay Jensen

Lindsay is a librarian in the recently renovated Children’s Department of the Main Library, where there is an actual climbing wall, among a lot of other really great things. While technically an adult, Lindsay prefers reading and talking about children’s books.

When you think of going to school, what do you picture? Smooth desks in neat rows? Bright, gleaming whiteboard? The rubbery smell of new sneakers? Curling up on the couch in your pajamas? Wait. What? 

You already know Nashville Public Library holds enough books, audiobooks, movies, and music to last a lifetime. But, did you know there are plenty of options to access without ever stepping foot into one of our buildings?

We get a lot of requests for chapter books appropriate for very young kids. I love this request! It’s such a cozy image to think of a family huddled together at bedtime, reading a chapter or two each night. But it’s a little stressful for library staff. Forgetting one small kidnapping or accidental death in a gentle read, and this cozy image takes a traumatic turn.

In anticipation of the Newbery Awards, being announced February 2nd, library staff compiled a list of our favorite chapter books published in 2014.
