About the Collection

Nashville Public Library participates in the Federal Depository Library Program. First designated in 1884, the depository serves the 5th U.S. Congressional District of Tennessee. Librarians on the third floor of Main Library will assist you locating government information located in our Government Documents collection.

Use the library catalog to locate government documents. Many records include web links to online versions. We maintain a print collection of federal publications and online government documents, including Metro Nashville documents.

  • - One-stop access to United States Government information.
  • Catalog of United States Government Publications - Covers July 1976 to present. Search by Keyword, Author, Title, Subject. Limit to specific collections or formats.
  • govinfo (Federal Digital System) - Government Printing Office's comprehensive collection of government publications submitted by Congress and other federal agencies. It includes major government documents such as the US Code, Budget of the United States Government, Code of Federal Regulations, and other core documents.
  • USA Trade Online - Statistical database. Provides official exports and imports data on more than 17,000 commodities. Reveals what merchandise is being shipped, where it is being shipped, and how much it is worth. Available at Main Library only.
