Children's Programming Intern at Southeast

Project Description:

The Southeast Branch of Nashville Public Library seeks a qualified intern to assist staff in planning and leading children's programs. The intern will assist with providing weekly and monthly storytimes, crafts and themed activities. The intern will have opportunities to learn and apply child development and literacy-based concepts and best practices with varied age groups. The intern will also assist in planning an end-of-summer celebration of reading.

Qualifications:

Applicants should be students with a background in education, humanities, community development or social sciences, with an enthusiasm and dedication for serving children. Applicants should have demonstrated experience working or volunteering with children. Applicants must have strong communication skills, and the ability to work well with a diverse team in a diverse community.  Ideal candidates exhibit creativity, imangination and enthusiasm for learning. Interns must also have reliable independent transportation.

Position Type:

Unpaid, part-time internship; 8-10 hours per week (minimum 100 hours), with preferred availability on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
