Seed Exchange Program Assistant
Nashville Public Library seeks an intern interested in issues of sustainability, local food production, or nutrition to assist with its Seed Exchange program. The Seed Exchange is a service of NPL that provides local gardeners with free access to seeds, and supports their efforts through workshops and other resources. Responsibilities will include coordinating the purchase, packaging and distribution of seeds among participating library locations; assisting with planning, scheduling and promoting programs offered in collaboration with master Gardeners and other community organizations; helping manage a budget and purchase supplies; creating a monthly newsletter; and compiling data and tracking outcomes. Based at the Bellevue Branch Library, this is an excellent opportunity to learn the elements of community-based programming within a library environment.
Applicants should be college students with interests in community development, non-profit progamming, sustainability or related issues. Applicants must have excellent communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills. Ideal candidates are reliable self-starters, with problem-solving abilities, who exhibit creativity and resourcefulness. Interns must have reliable independent transportation.
