Last time we talked, I mentioned that I’m looking forward to the new Deadpool 2 movie. Well, it’s almost here. And for those of you wondering why I’m so in love with this comic book character, I’m going to provide you with an overview of the Deadpool comics available at the library. That way, you can get caught up too.
1. Deadpool: The Complete Collection by Daniel Way [[nid:3552]]
This is a decent collection. It was the first series I read of Deadpool, so I think it was a good place to start. Some of these the library has, some you might have to request through ILL, but I had ok luck finding everything.
2. Deadpool Classic by Joe Kelly [[nid:3554]]
This is a huge series that is up to Volume 20. Some of the older books will need to be ILL’d, but the library has a good number of these. I would say that this is the backbone of the Deadpool universe.
3. Cable and Deadpool by Fabian Nicieza [[nid:3555]]
I hate Cable. Can I say that? But I read these books for continuity and they weren’t awful. My friends like Cable, plus he’s in the new movie, so I included him here. You decide if you like him or not. (NOT!)
4. Spiderman/Deadpool by various [[nid:3556]]
Deadpool and Spiderman are like two sides of the same coin. They are both smart mouths who like to save people, so it’s fun when they team up. Spidey might be a little nicer and a little more mainstream, but Deadpool will always have my heart.
5. Deadpool by Brian Posehn and Gerry Duggan
[[nid:3557]] This series is by far and away my favorite. It’s hilarious. DP gets married to an awesome underworld goddess who kicks more butt than he does. The library has these in individual books, or they just recently got in a big compilation of the run. Either way, you can’t lose.
There are a couple more series, but either the library doesn’t have them (hello, ILL) or I didn’t like them enough to mention (Deadpool Max – ugh, just saying). If you start with these, you’ll know if you want to track down the others by the time your done.
See you at the movie!
Happy Pooling…
:) Amanda
