New Book Club: Romance Edition

January 24, 2025

Looking for a place to chat with other readers about all things romance? Join the Main Library’s newest adult book club, Slow Burn Book Club! Intended for readers 18+, Slow Burn Book Club is our ode to the romance genre and love in all its forms.

New and seasoned romance readers are welcome to join us on the first Saturday of every month as we explore various subgenres and diverse voices. Interested in learning more? Check out our event calendar for more information about our first meeting on February 1st, and explore our first few SBBC book club selections below.

Our inaugural SBBC pick, Love and Other Words is for the readers who love an angsty second-chance romance. Childhood best friends (and briefly lovers) who lost touch in their teens after a fateful series of events, pediatric resident Macy and writer Elliot work through old hurts and misunderstandings to discover if they can have a future together.

Start your Month of Love right by meeting us at the Main Library on February 1st to share your thoughts!

Are soul mates, passionate artists, and the magic and glamour of the Harlem Renaissance up your alley? A Love Song for Ricki Wilde features star-crossed lovers, florist Ricki and musician Ezra, as they find a connection despite all odds– and must come to terms with a devastating twist of fate that threatens to separate them forever.

Mark your calendar for March 1st, and join us as we discuss A Love Song for Ricki Wilde!

Our April book, The Pairing, features former best friends and now-exes Theo and Kit as they reunite to take a nonrefundable European food tour booked back when they were still together. Expect The Pairing to include lots of sumptuous descriptions of food and wine and delicious forced proximity, and then come to book club on April 5th to chat all about it!

Are you into poignant, emotional stories of love and loss? Chat with us on May 3rd about our May book club pick, How to End a Love Story.

Thirteen years after a tragic event that bound them together in their teens, Helen and Grant find themselves working together in the writers’ room of a buzzy new Hollywood production and must reckon with their pasts (and potential future).

Our June pick, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, follows journalist Monique as she interviews reclusive film siren Evelyn Hugo about her glamorous and scandalous life as an Old Hollywood starlet. Join us on June 7th to discuss this BookTok favorite read by millions across the globe.
