Picture Books for AANHPI Heritage Month

May 6, 2025

May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! First observed in the 1970s and officially proclaimed by President George H.W. Bush in 1990, AANHPI Heritage Month is a celebration of the ongoing historical and cultural achievements of people of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander descent in the United States.

Among the more recently published picture books featuring children of AANHPI backgrounds in our catalog, we have:

A 2025 Caldecott Honor book.

A book about Lunar New Year.

A book about confronting a challenge.

A book about spending time with a beloved grandparent.

A book about the many ways to show people that we love them.

A book about how food connects us.

A bilingual book in English and Karen

A book with robust STEAM connections.

A book about how tradition brings us closer together.

A book about the ancient stories we still tell.

And a book about finding your voice.
