Who can resist the miracle that is nature? So strong is the draw of nature that we all respond in some way, and there’s a book out there for every level of interest. The craft possibilities are endless!
There are tons of great gardening books for kids out there. Some of my favorite hands-on gardening books for the younger and young-at-heart include:
A super fun read, providing easy projects for all seasons with a focus on small spaces and container gardening.
Read about all the ins and outs of growing, plus 30 simple--yet fantastic--gardening projects to be completed during summer vacation.
This one is for the more serious gardener and gourmet.
A book from the “Super Simple...” garden series for kids. If you can’t find an interest in this series, I will be shocked! Topics include butterfly gardens, fairy gardens, kitchen gardens, hanging gardens, salad gardens, and indoors gardens. Each book has detailed instructions and lots of fun photographs.
For the more story-oriented reader, this book is a fun, interactive and engaging gardening story book for the littlest ones.
“Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt” by Kate Messner explores gardening events year round both above and below the soil.
“If You Plant a Seed” by Kadir Nelson is the best kind of book about gardening, with an emphasis on kindness and sharing. Sure to make you laugh and reflect.
