We’ve been waiting a short 12 years for this and now, Veronica Mars is finally coming back. Thanks to Hulu, the Veronica Mars Revival (Season 4) starts tomorrow (7.26). If you need me for anything, you might just need to wait for Monday. I will be busy bingeing all eight episodes.
To be fair, since the show was cancelled in May 2007, there has been 1 Kickstarted movie and 2 official novels to keep us entertained. What? You haven’t watched/read them. Well, let’s get on it friends. You’ve got less than 24 hours till we have new Veronica Mars. Chop chop.
If you haven’t watched the show, start there. The library has all three seasons on DVD. Nice, right?
Then go to the movie, simply titled Veronica Mars, also available on DVD. This is the one that Rob Thomas funded via Kickstarter. Not saying we are fans, but it raised $2 million dollars in 11 hours. The movie follows Veronica as she’s ready to graduate law school. While interviewing at a fancy New York law firm, her ex, Logan (sigh) calls. He’s been accused of murder and needs her help because he didn’t do it. Honestly, you had me at Logan. He was always my favorite of her boyfriends. I shipped LoVe hard during the show.
After you watch the movie, you’ve got to hit the two novels (both of which the library has in print) before you’re ready for new Veronica. The first one, The Thousand-Dollar Tan Line, starts at Spring Break and then takes Veronica into the world of organized crime. The second book, Mr. Kiss and Tell, finds Veronica working a major case at the notorious Neptune Grand Hotel. Both books are considered canon, but I have to say that I still found them enjoyable. They are written by Rob Thomas, creator of Veronica Mars, and each on acts like its own episode.
Ok. Whew. That was a lot of work, but now you are ready to watch the new Veronica Mars. Pop the popcorn, get into your comfiest jammies, and let’s do this. There’s no better way you can spend your time.
Trust me.
Happy Veronica Mars-ing…
:) Amanda
