Cozy Up to a Good Read

What's good about frigid and dreary winter weather? It's the perfect excuse to curl up with a good book.

Check out this wealth of recommendations from some of our bloggers, and find out a bit more about them as you do.

For Adults

Amanda Recommends [[nid:5978]]

Amanda is a classically-trained pianist who loves to read. Like any good librarian, she also has two cats named after Italian cities. Amanda spends her free time sitting in Nashville traffic, baking, and running the Interlibrary Loan office at Nashville Public Library.

 

Emily Recommends[[nid:6130]]

Emily is a Teen Associate at NPL. When she's not planning programs or hanging out in the teen room at her branch, Emily spends her days reading, writing, gardening, trying new recipes, and playing board games. She loves most books and all dogs.

 

Klem-Marí Recommends[[nid:6131]]

In a former life, Klem-Marí was a Religious Studies scholar. She much prefers being the Family Literacy Coordinator for Bringing Books to Life! She wants you to read and share books with the children in your life, and for those children to see you to read as well. Originally from Puerto Rico, Klem-Marí also enjoys her cat, baking, yoga, and the works of Octavia Butler.

 

Ben Recommends[[nid:6132]]

Ben is a librarian at the Green Hills Branch Library. In addition to comics, picture books from yesteryear, and various titles concerning illustration and graphic design, Ben can often be found enjoying vintage weird fiction. He teaches tech classes and is also involved in branch programming.

 

Laurie Recommends [[nid:6162]]

Laurie worked in the Collection Development Department for 16 years. She selected adult music, movies, and non-fiction titles for Nashville Public Library system. Born in Brooklyn and raised in East Tennessee, Laurie lived in Nashville for 16 years.

 

Sarah Recommends [[nid:6137]]

Sarah is an Archives Assistant with Metro Archives. Her interests and areas of expertise are history, literature, music, travel, Harry Potter and Alf. Crystal Deane is a librarian in the Popular Materials Department. She likes mysteries, cookbooks, and cats. She dislikes spoilers, and won't include any in her reviews.

 

Beth Recommends [[nid:6139]]

Beth works in the Collection Development department. She loves short stories, memoirs, documentary films, and cookbooks. Her favorite things about working at the library are the Salon@615 series and the easy access to her library holds.

 

For Children

Cassie Recommends [[nid:6140]]

Cassie is a Children's Librarian at Edmondson Pike Branch Library. She can often be found reading books and singing songs, and not just at the library! Her favorite thing to do at the moment is cuddle her baby while they read phenomenal picture books and earn Read to Rise points.

 

Terri Recommends[[nid:6141]]

Miss Terri has worked at three different branches of Nashville Public Library since 2002. She's currently the head of the Children's Department at the Green Hills Branch Library. When she isn’t working, she is usually hanging out with her dog Boo.

 

Candice Recommends[[nid:6142]]

Candice is a Children's Library Associate at the Looby Branch Library. She enjoys gardening, reading children's books, rainy days, and cheese. She spends much of her time at the library, but she's not mad about it. Check out when and where you can attend Story Time!
