Hi library friends! We have a new book from a local author and local illustrator to share with the childrens departments - it is called the Warrior Princess and it focuses on telling children (girls in particular) that they are "enough" as they are - it's a beautiful picture book and suitable for children of all ages. Author is DL Murphy (wife of singer/songwriter David Lee Murphy and her co-illustrator is Jan Shannon. The author would love to read it at story times around town, and donate a copy to each branch. Let me know if you'd like to connect with her! Amanda

I find it interesting that "Parnasus Books" is one of the choices to acquire books. Not only are there other bookstores in Nashville, but I don't feel that the library should be promoting ANY business in this manner. I do hope though that they have given a LARGE donation for the privilege. If not, you should stop promoting them.

Hello Missy,

Thank you for the feedback. We partner with local bookstore Parnassus Books on several initiatives here at the library, including Salon@615 and Nashville Reads, but I do not see any mention of Parnassus on the blog post where you added your comment.

Please feel free to contact us if you'd like to know more about our partnership with Parnassus Books, or if we can help you with any library-related questions.

Sincerely,
