Our Work Continues

June 4, 2020

Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of Mr. George Floyd and all Black people murdered at the hands of law enforcement. We condemn racism and violence toward Black people.

That is why the programming and community engagement of Nashville Public Library in the library’s Civil Rights Room will continue, as it has for decades.

We will continue to examine social injustice, racism, and identity with patrons, staff, and neighbors.

We will continue conversations about contemporary human rights issues. We will go beyond the superficial, the immediate, or the temporary.

We will explore, together, questions of personal responsibility, systemic change, and social transformation.

And we will be here, every day of the year, now and into the future, for every person to participate in that journey.
