3 New Books by Women

May 6, 2021

I am always thrilled when a short story collection gets a lot of attention. Keep reading short stories! My favorites here were The Loss of Heaven and Thicker Than Water, but every single one of them had good moments. Bookpage says:

Throughout 11 short stories – all set in Florida, all focusing on transformative experiences in the lives of women – Moniz weaves tales that are as profound as they are unnerving, as moving as they are surprising.

If you are a fan of coming-of-age novels, do not miss this one. You may also like The Burning Girl by Claire Messud, Marlena by Julie Buntin, and In Zanesville by Jo Ann Beard.

If you are anxiously awaiting the new Talented Mr. Ripley TV adaptation, this Highsmith-y thriller should tide you over. This is the most fun I’ve had reading all year.
