Amanda's Best of 2021

December 23, 2021

Whew! We made it. Overall, I have to say that 2021 was a better year than 2020. We got a vaccine, and life started to head back towards normal – whatever that means at this point. Somehow, in all the chaos, I managed to read approximately 250 books. Here are the ones I think you shouldn't miss (and I wish I could read again for the first time):

Best YA Book

I fell in love with Dash and Lily immediately. I found them on Netflix (see what I said then) and then plowed through the whole series as soon as I realized it was also a book. I think the first book is still my favorite, but all are highly recommended.

Honorable Mention YA

Best Nonfiction

I think I liked this one so much because it was not what I expected, and I found it both educational and highly entertaining (see what I said then). Israel can be a controversial topic, and this was a great entry point to start learning why.

Honorable Mention Nonfiction

Best Cookbook

Due to COVID, my husband and I haven't been eating out that much. I've also been obsessed with international cookbooks, which works out nicely. I love bread in any culture, and so I was happy to finally find this great recipe for milk bread. And it also has other yummy things. Can't go wrong here.

Honorable Mention Cookbooks

Best Fiction

I've been trying to stretch myself by reading books I wouldn't normally read. I'd heard good things about this author, but it took me three different check outs on this one before I actually read it. Then I fell in love almost immediately. Beautifully intertwined characters made me want to never put this one down. I'm gonna have to move on to A Man Called Ove and see what that fuss is about as well.

Honorable Mention Fiction

Last but not least...Best Series

Be careful what you wish for. Once you start with these, you won't want to stop until you've read them all. Then if you want more, you can checkout all these Readalikes...

So that's my list. I hope you enjoy all of these as much as I did. And I hope your milk bread turns out good too!

Happy reading and see you next year!
