Main Library Reopens October 26

NPL is excited to welcome customers back to the Main Library in downtown Nashville on October 26.

Patrons can check out books and materials on reopening day and enjoy programs for all ages.

If you have already placed an item from the collection on hold for pickup, please plan to get them at the Looby branch through Thursday, October 24.

Customers can pick up reserved items at the Main Library beginning Saturday, October 26.

Due to ongoing renovation, the Civil Rights Room remains closed to the public until further notice.

Thank you for your patience during this temporary closure to perform preventative maintenance on the heating and cooling system that regulates temperatures for about 200,000 square feet across three floors of the building.

While customers won’t see changes to the interior, they will experience the Main Library in a comfortable environment, thanks to this essential work.

Customers might notice changes to the Robinson Courtyard outdoors following extensive investigation into a potential structural issue.

The roots of the Courtyard’s trees have penetrated its flooring, causing leaks in the roof of the parking garage located immediately adjacent to the Main Library.

Left unchecked, water damage could have led to structural issues and safety risks.

As a proactive safety measure, NPL has removed all trees from the Courtyard.

We know Nashville loves this iconic community space. NPL remains committed to good stewardship of the Courtyard. We will share updates as NPL imagines a new, sustainable future for the Courtyard as a welcoming and inviting gathering place.
