All Things Eerie: "The Baron of Grogzwig"

We introduce our new podcast with a very special ghost story, this one by a Mr. Dickens, whom we all know as one of the most prolific and beloved authors of the 19th century.

Charles Dickens created some of the world’s best-known fictional characters and is regarded by many to be the greatest novelist of the Victorian era.  His works enjoyed unprecedented popularity during his lifetime and, by the 20th century, critics and scholars had recognized him as a literary genius.

Famous for the silly and laughable names of his characters and the very disturbing ghosts who often feature in his stories, Mr. Dickens presents us this evening with a little of both in a story called “The Baron of Grogzwig,” and at the end of the story provides us with some sage advice for times when we seem to have too many awful troubles.  And speaking of genius, there is one in this story whom it would not be fun to encounter.  Be careful!

And now, turn down the lights, and join us for “The Baron of Grogzwig” by Charles Dickens.
