What Does Your Family Look Like?

Some families are big, while others are small. Some families all look alike, while others don't look alike at all.

Families come in all shapes and sizes. They may be tall; they may be small. Your family might represent many different races, or your family might only represent one. My personal definition of a family is that yours consists of the group of people that surround you in your life, who love you, support you, and looks out for you. Each family looks different depending on the person. Yours might include your mom, your sister, your favorite coworker, or even your neighbor. This is why it is so incredibly important to have children's books about family with as many different scenarios as possible. Family is something we all have in common, and it's something we can all share.

There are picture books about adoption:

There are books with families that all look different:

There are even books that promote being proud of your family, regardless of what others might think:

One of my favorite picture books that I've found recently about families is Life With My Family because it's about a child being so annoyed with her family and dreaming that they are different kinds of animals instead. "As a herd of buffalo, flies would be our only troubles." She ultimately decides that she loves her family just the way it is.

In the end, the most important thing is that everyone has One Family, regardless of anything else:

When we show children all that we have in common, like with families, rather than separating people out, we teach love and kindness. Now, couldn't the world use more of that?
