Free yoga at the library...

...and dancing, and meditation, and gardening, and more. With Be Well at NPL, we're stepping up as a key player in advancing community health.

Personal wellness is more than going to the doctor and lifting weights. Our health is heavily influenced by social and economic factors, as well as our felt sense of belonging and purpose. In a way, the library has always addressed these issues by connecting you to the information and services you need, and by being a warm and consistent presence in the community. It is only natural we would become an access point for free, direct health services.

We’re collaborating with health professionals, Metro departments, and community agencies to create a wellness initiative in line with the health priorities of Nashville's residents. What will this look like at the library? You'll find more health and wellness classes, such as stress reduction, cooking, and dance, at your branch. And we’ll provide information about useful community services that can help you lead a healthier life.

I'd like to see a city sponsored bike ride in the fall, opposite of Tour de Nash in the spring, that stops a library branches. Or at least work some library branches into Tour de Nash stops.
This one is very library specific to library or other Metro employees, but there has been chatter for years about a library run club, or a library run team around marathon time.

I would like more information about the wellness program. It sound like a great opportunity to stay healthy while connecting with new friends. Thanks P. Jones

Hi Paulina! Thank you for your excitement about Be Well at NPL. We have free wellness programs happening every week at many of our branch locations. Just today there was gentle yoga, a cooking class, Zumba, and a dance party for kids.
